Damhsa Gasra (pronounce Dow-za Gaze-ra) is the performing troupe of Kalima Tribal Belly Dance. Formed in 2009, the members of Damhsa Gasra have combined 20 years experience in Belly Dance in a variety of styles. Their group performances focus on Tribal Improv and Tribal Fusion. Solo performances by individual members range from dark gothic to glittery cabaret. The ladies enjoy experimenting with music and you may find them dancing to Solace, Keb Mo, Flogging Molly, Albannach, Helm, and anything else that moves them. They enjoy addig props such as baskets, swords, and veils to group performances to give them an added flair.
In 2009 Damhsa performed at Arts on Easy Street, Sept. Night Out on the Town, and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Oktoberfiesta. They performed at the Concord Art Crawl, Beth Feeback's Gallery opening, and the Halloween Hafla at the Diversity Den in Concord, NC., And let's not forget the crowd the stood and watched us in the rain at Gold Hill Founder's Day in Gold Hill, NC.
In 2010 you will find them performing regular at Salisbury Night Out on the Town and the Concord Area Belly Dance meetup, as well as at Underground Charlotte in March. Don't miss the excitement. Damhsa Gasra bring love and laughter, and the pure joy of dance to every performance.
